I have productive days at work on Tuesday and Wednesday. There are more questions to be answered about our recent tests as well as analysis and test predictions for upcoming tests, so people keep piling work on me. But I keep cutting through it and getting good results. After work on both days I get out for a good run on Tuesday (though my left hamstring starts to hurt towards the end) and a decent, heavy session with the weights on Wednesday. After each workout I do some little tasks around the house in the garden or scrubbing the bathroom tile to keep moving before relaxing later in the evening.
I have very good and deep sleep on Friday night into Saturday morning. When I get up I get out for a good 45 mile road bicycle ride. I feel strong throughout most of the ride until the last few miles. AFter a shower I return a library book and run some errands. When I go to get my hair cut I tell the lady, "I don't want to lose any length. Please just thin it out. Don't even out the lengths. I'm going for an unkept look". I have to explain this to her a couple of times but she does get it right. The rest of the day is slow but with an exciting qualifying for the F1 race from Bahrain. Person T_U has mentioned something about going out clubbing to a local club, but I'm just not up to it and aim for early sleep.
I have a good productive day on Monday and a super session with the weights after work. It's amazing what a couple of days of good sleep will do. After the workout I clean up the roses and then go in to watch a Moto3 race. Except that the recording is a soccer game. Fox Sports 2 has repalced both the Moto3 and Moto2 races with a soccer game. I am absolutely livid! I check the web schedule a couple of times to make sure that I did not mess up the recording. And then I send an email to Fox Sports letting them know how livid I am. The bad mood over missing the Moto2 and Moto3 races follows me to bed. I fall asleep easily but then wake up and can't sleep and have nightmares and toss and turn.
Wednesday and Thursday are a blur. I manage to chair a long review meeting and also get some other work done. In addition, I take a training class (that I let lapse) and meet the teacher who is one quarter Cambodian. So we share some stories during a break in the training class. After work I have great workouts on Wednesday with good weights and on Thursday as I work the abdominals and core muscles. Except that Thursday's workout is interrupted with work calling on how to proceed with a certain hardware build for test next week. On both days I'm looking forward to a three day weekend of cycling and Cal State Los Angeles and just small tasks around the house.
I have a half degree fever on Saturday morning and try to decide what ride to do. I finally pull out the road bicycle and head for the Whittier Narrows dam. After I get going I feel very good and crank along nicely with swirling winds. I keep a group of riders behind me for a fair distance down the San Gabriel river trail until they finally catch me and then I just let them pull me along for the last 3 miles. After a shower I get to the library for a new book and get the car washed. And then I spend the majority of the day at home watching a movie, relaxing, cleaning the house, and reading. in mid-afternoon I get down for a two hour nap and take my temperature again to see no real fever.
On Monday I feel good in the morning and start making progress on the tasks that I have been putting off. These tasks are less painfull than I expected and pretty soon I'm finished with them. And I turn my attention to more fin things. As the day wears on my throat becomes scratchy. When I get home I have a heavy session with the weights where I've increased the weights back up again. And then I pull out a solderingiron and try to fix Person Ti_Ca's car interior molding pieces by melting the plastic and sealing up the cracks (which didn't hold well with glue). We install the molding and we'll see how they hold. Later in the evening my throat is getting worse and I feel a few body aches, so I take a Nyquil that Person Ti_Ca has laying around. I had sworn off all cold/flu medicines because of spacy effects from a Corcidin medicine and a Robitussin medicine. But I'll try a Nyquil.
Wednesday is a struggle. My throat is very sore and I cannot talk. Yet I have a presentation to make. People in the audience who are visiting from NASA and JPL realize how hoarse I sound but I make it through the presentation hitting all of the key points. Afterwards I call and ask my doctor to give me a prescription for azithromycin (or a Z-Pak) because it is a wide spectrum antibiotic and I've had it before and you only take it for 5 days (as opposed to 10 or 12 days for many other anitbiotics). But my doctor wants me to come in so I make an appointment for Thursday afternoon. I'm a bit miffed because it's wasting 24 hours and sometimes it doesn't matter what action you take to head off a sickness as long as you take some sort of action. And this is delaying it by 24 hours. When I get home I go walking for almost an hour and then rinse off for a relaxing evening.
