The week passes by quickly. I have some very productive days at work. There are additional assignments at work. And there are phone calls with people who ask for my advice and I am able to give good guidance. The workouts are just blase. Though I get in good workouts with the weights on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, the lifts are a struggle and I keep coughing while working out (and at other times). I don't feel sick but my voice is horse and I keep coughing and feel junk moving around in my lungs.
Thursday and Friday bring rain and I am depressed since I cannot easily be on two wheels. I must hope for nice weekend weather.
On Friday I'm at work from 6 am until 6 pm. There is a late meeting where the bosses almost act surprised that things are all messed up. They threaten to call a weekend meeting but somebody volunteers to put together a skeleton recovery plan and send it out.
On Saturday morning the rain has subsided and I meet up with Derrick for a ride. I have to put the road bicycle over the fence and climb over myself to get to the Los Angeles river trail and reverse the process to leave the trail. And we find other gates closed that shorten our ride. Just before I leave the trail Derrick gets a flat tire so we fix that and later I get a text indicating that he made it back to his car safely. I do some web programming throughout Saturday but otherwise it is a slow day with more rain coming along in the afternoon.
On Sunday I drive to the Amtrack train station in Fullerton, meet up with some co-workers, and ride down to San Diego. When we leave the train and start looking for a restaurant to eat lunch at, one of my co-workers announces that he has lost his wallet and that it has probably slipped out of his pocket on the train. We find a security officer who ends up directing us to the wrong place for lost and found - so we go to the wrong trolley station before we put 2 and 2 together to figure out the right station to go to. Sure enough the wallet is waiting at the lsot and found. We go grab lunch at a sports bar and watch all of the games being played as we eat. We grab a trolley to the game and today's crowd is down from the last time I came here for a game. The game is not exciting today as both teams try to loe and not advance the ball. In the end the visiting Bengals win (who I was rooting for) and the game almost matches my pre-game score prediction. We eventually grab a trolley back to downtown San Siego for a quick dinner before getting on the AMtrack train and returning to Fullerton. In San Deigo the weather has been nice and sunny (for the most part) and when we get back to Fullerton and then to Long Beach it is very wet.
The workweek passes quickly. On Monday and Tuesday I keep getting re-directed and am not able to concentrate on important tasks. I try to stay productive but Wednesday and Thursday are tied up with meetings. Since the work week is not as productive as desired, the workouts with the weights are good. I've increased the weights a bit more for ten repetition sets and have a decent pump at the end of each workout.
On Friday I meet up with Derrick and go cycling along the Los Angeles river and down to the pier. We have our final ride for a while since I will be away on holiday. Throughout the afternoon I run some errands and mow the lawn and get the house ready for my absence. On Friday night Person Ti_Ca and I drive over to Long Beach aiport and pick up Mr Karl on his way from work at Salt Lake city and northern Nevada. We have a good visit until it is time to go to sleep.
On Saturday in the late morning Person Ti_Ca drops Mr Karl and I off at Los Angeles International airport for our afternoon flight to Bangkok, Thailand.
