The workweek is quite interesting as I am able to help a lot of people out with difficult problems to solve and I am offerred a promotion and a new position. After talking with some people I figure, as in the military, you cannot reject an offerred position. So I start trying to close out older responsibilities while taking on the new ones.
On Wednesday after work I finally get the Yamaha YZF-R1 back from repair and hope that it is okay for a while. When I get home and Person Ti_Ca gets back home, I go work out. By the time that I have finished working out I am getting the silent treatment. So I take a shower and go walking - eventually ending up at a coffee shop and I enjoy a cold strawberry smoothie. I just sit back and try to think about "the silent treatment" situation AGAIN. EVentually I walk back home where I am still getting the silent treatment so I just go to sleep.
On Thursday it feels fantastic to be back on the motorbike! When I get home I am still getting the silent treatment so I go out walking for about an hour. When I get home and grab a quick shower I go about my business and give the silent treatment right back. EVentually Person Ti_Ca and I have a brief conversation but then I go to read and go to sleep.
On Friday I get home and lift weights and mow the lawn. The silent treatment isn't being given now because I'm expected to help with homework. So I do my duty and help with homework. As we do the homework we talk about the silent treatment incident this time and the reasons for its initation are just trivial. But I accept it as is and go for another long walk where I end up stopping for a strawberry smoothie again as Person Ti_Ca goes out with his friends.
Saturday starts with a long ride to the pier and back. After a shower I get over to the library to return books and eat lunch. In the middle of the afternoon I help Person Ti_Ca with his homework and then I take a shower and go to my boss's boss's photo gallery of rock stars. I run into a former co-worker who retired 8 years ago that I have not seen but I spend a majority of my time with an administrator from work and a co-worker (stickboy) as we just hang out and talk. I return home near 10 pm for deep sleep.
Sunday starts with a long ride on the mountain bicycle to the pier and back. My recent riding partner Derrick has abandonded me today inf avor of studying for exams at CSULA. I cross path with co-workers on the ride and shout out "We'll catch up on the way back" but I don't see them on the way back. After cleaning the roses and taking a shower, I run an errand or two, watch the MotoGP race from the Czech Republic, clean the kitchen, have a conference call with people about child fatality web sites that we are working on, watch the Moto2 race, and then relax.
On SUnday near 6 pm Person Ti_Ca calls and has a flat tire. SO I drive over and while he eats dinner with his friend, I put on the psare (spacesaver) tire. That, when I put the car back down, has no air. So when Person Ti_Ca and his friend finish dinner, we drive over to Target for a Fix-A-Flat. This does the trick and Person Ti_Ca is able to drive home.
Monday is a good day at work and I follow it with a good workout with heavy weights. I walk on over to the Expo Center for a 6:30 community meeting about the Long Beach city budget deficit.
Tuesday and Wednesday are mixed productive/blah days at work. I make good progress on some efforts and help people with their problems, I'm looking forward to the long weekend and find myself thinking about the relaxing time off. On Tuesday night I grab a refrigerator and a gas dryer that a neighbor is giving away and hold them for Person Ti_Ca's mother. Late on Tuesday Person Ti_Ca's sister comes over and we stuff the refrigerator in her van and send her home. On Wednesday I get home and have a heavier session with the weights and then relax. Later in the evening I walk over to a coffeehouse to meet up with Person T_U and Person O_Ph. I have a nice visit and then walk back home.
Thursday is a an extra day off from work. It starts with the extended aquarium ride down to the pier and back. Today is going to be a hot day and I'm sweating profusely as I finish the ride. I'm sweaty now, so I might as well trim the front bushes and clean up the junipers. So I spend an hour sweating more as I work in the yard. I grab a cool shower and head to visit the doctor to deal with a couple of small problems. As I'm in the waiting room I see Person Ma_Fl (who used to be called friend of a friend) and we have a little chat and exchange phone numbers. When I finally get home after 2.5 hours at the doctor's office, I relax for a bit until a conference call about the children's adoption process. I'm a bit frustrated with the process because there is a lack of communication and because a cuple of the people just keep rambling on and won't let others speak. Finally I say that I have to drop off the teleconference and Person Ti_Ca and I go to have dinner at an Indian restaurant in Little India. The food is okay as we watch the Indian movie playing on the bigscreen television in the restaurant. When we return home I relax a bit as Person Ti_Ca gets a late call to go hang out with friends.
Friday starts with the extended aquarium ride to the pier and out to the end of the trail. As I return to home I'm feeling strong even though the day is warming up quickly. I edge, mow, and trim the lawn and clean the roses before declaring that I am tired. I have a cool shower to relax and then spend the afternoon working on web programming. AT one point Person Ti_Ca and I try to fit a dryer into his car to take home for his mother, but it doesn't quite fit into a Honda Civic. But I enjoy a cooling off evening and relax as Person Ti_Ca has family responsibilities to take care of.
On Saturday morning I wake up near 5 am and cannot fall back asleep - I've slept well throughout the night and probably don't need anymore sleep. Thus I get up and watch qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix and run through the sprinkler timers to water the front yard. I start out on the road bicycle at 7:30 and crank out more than 40 miles as I feel fairly strong throughout the ride. After a cool shower and some lunch, I relax in front of the television until I get down for a 60 minute nap in the afternoon. Person Ti_Ca and I do some homework before I get a great workout with the weights in and pick up Person T_U to go out cluubbing.
Person T_U and I get out to two clubs. I have not been to either of these two clubs in almost two years and the one has done a fair amount of reconstruction. I tell Person T_U, "Congratulations to this club for turning it into a smoking club" since it is almost an open-air club, but not quite, and people smoke in it. It will be advisable to avoid this club in the future. The music is good at the second club and I just watch a Person T_U tries to meet a very cute guy with no luck. We've agreed to leave early so I drop Person T_U off at his house and I'm home by about 2 am on Sunday morning.
On SUnday morning my cycling friend Derrick does not respond to my 7 am text so I start north on the Los Angeles river hoping to run into him. I don't run into him on the way north to the Whittier Narrows dam by I run into a group of 4 cyclists that I ride with for a while. One is the owner of Ted's Cycles in Manhattan Beach where I used to service my bicycle (when it was owned by Ted Ernst - the longtime Manhattan Beach cycling advocate). When the group of 4 cyclists splits off I just turn around near the dam and head for home. As I'm riding south I see Derrick riding north. So I ride to the bottom of the hill and turn around. When I get back to the top of the hill I see Derrick on the pavement. He's tried ti turn around at slow speed and fallen off the bicycle. I help him pick himself up and he's okay. We have a brief conversation and agree to try to ride on Saturday. I finally get home after 35 miles (on top of yesterday's 41 miles and short sleep). I watch the enjoyable, entertaining, and unpredictable Belgian Grand Prix and am happy when my favorite driver has a strong drive to second and halves the gap to the World Championship leader. Late in the afternoon I wash the World Rally Car, dry it off, and put it away in the garage.
On Sunday night and into Monday morning I have very good sleep. When I wake up I read some websites for a while before getting out for the ride down the Los Angeles river out past the pier and to the end of the bicycle trail. Towards the end of the ride I fell my legs getting tired as this is the fifth day in a row of riding. But I thoroughly enjoy the ride. AFter a cool shower and some brief grocery shopping I work on websites and relax.
