Memorial Day Weekend

Tuesday is a hectic day at work as, at one point, people are literally lined up outside my office door for information or help. I make a lot of progress on things even if I am interrupted a number of times. At one point I walk over to another building to have a meeting in whcih the person who yeleld at me two weeks ago is present. Though I hear a snide comment or two under the person's breath, the meeting is fairly productive. After work I lubricate the chain of the Yamaha YZF-R1, water the impatiens, get in a good workout with the weights, and trim the roses. After a quick shower Person Ti_Ca and I go grocery shopping and eat dinner and then do homework.

Wednesday and Thursday are very productive days at work and at home. I continue working on a large scale mass minimization effort at work and continue to make progress and provide promising results to the team leaders. After work on both Wednesday and Thursday I get in good sessions with the weights as I increase the weight and decrease the repetitions. I've stayed at the high to medium repetition workouts long enough. Late on Thursday I jump on the motorbike and meet up with Ruby and Joseph to continue the placement application effort. The meeting is a disaster since everyone is on a different page and everyone had different expectations from last week's meeting. We have a long meeting that includes Ruby yelling at me. But we leave the meeting near 10:30 pm with actions to take. When I get home I put the motorbike away in the garage and sit down outside on the porch steps to think about the meeting. Person Ti_Ca comes out and we talk about the meeting and the dilemna that we are in. Eventually I go inside and get to sleep after midnight. It's been a long week and I've missed some sleep, so I'm looking forward to the three day weekend.

Friday starts with a good long bicycle ride to the pier and back. After a shower I run a few short errands. I wash the Yamaha YZF-R1 and dry it off and let it bask in the sun. The furniture delivery people call and say "between 4 and 6 pm" even though it was originally supposed to be between 12 and 2. At mid afternoon I get in a 90 minute nap and then get up and wax the motorbike.

Saturday starts with a wild and topsy-turvy qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix. After qualifying I gt out for an 80 minute ride down near the aquarium. The lawn needs mowing, so now is as good a time as any. I grab a nice relaxing shower and work on websites for about 90 minutes. Person Ti_Ca and I load up supplies and head down to the beach. Person Ti_Ca rides his bicycle as I inline skate along. We stop and watch the kites and kite surfers but have about a 90 minute ride/skate. When I get home I rinse quickly and relax with the ice hockey playoffs and more website work. I'm tired now, so I'm happy that Person Ti_Ca is going out with a friend and I can relax and get to sleep early.

I wake up at 5:30 am on Sunday and I'm ready to go. Thus I watch a part of the Spanish Grand Prix and then go cycling. It's a good long ride to the pier and back. I get a quick shower and run some errands and clean up the garage a bit. I'm still restless, so I feed and water and trim the roses. Now I can have lunch. In the later part of the afternoon I get down on my hands and knees and wax the rims of the Yamaka YZF-R1. Though it is 10 years old and has almost 68,000 miles on it, the old Yamaha still looks pretty darn good. Later I watch the Los Angeles Kings win the first game of the conference finals. And then I just relax and get ready for work on Monday.

For the most part I have a good Monday at work until teh last few minutes. At that time I have a discussion with a co-worker and realize that I made a bad mistake recently. There is no harm, but I'm disappointed in myself. I keep thinking of my big mistake on the motorbike ride home. To relieve stress I have a great session with the weights where I add in another set. Afterwards I watch an ice hockey playoff game and try to do some web programming.

Tuesday and Wednesday are hectic days at work since there is a problem with a test that is being run. I'm called in to help debug and I do the best that I can. On Wednesday I go have lunch with a co-worker and his friend and we all agree that it is good to get away from work for an hour - since all of us tend to just stay in and work through lunch. Though I don't get in a workout on Tuesday because I'm late at work, I increase the weights for Wednesday's workout and enjoy it. And after cleaning up the roses a bit I relax, do some web programming, and watch another ice hockey playoff game.

Thursday and Friday are more days "waiting" for tests to start. I work down my list of other tasks. Finally on Friday we start to test and barely get started before the day has ended. On Friday night I get in a good workout with the weights and then relax.

Saturday starts with a long bicycle ride to the pier and back. After a shower Person Ti_Ca and I go to Universal Studios to play. I have not been there for almost ten years so it's interesting to go back. Though schools are starting to end, the crowd is not excessive. The Transformers 3D ride is very good as well as the Mummy ride and the tour (including a King King 3D effort). After returning home from Universal Studios Person Ti_Ca goes to dinner with his family and I relax and catch up on some normal Saturday activities that were overcome by the Universal Studios diversion.

Sunday starts with the wet MotoGP race from France where my favorite rider gets his best result in two years with a very good second place. I get out for the same long ride to the pier and back on this beautiful morning and end the ride with two long all-out intervals. By the time that I get home there is a text message from Person Ti_Ca indicating that he has forgotten his phone charger at home. So after a shower I grab the charger, pick up some Khmer food, and deliver them to Person Ti_Ca at his workplace. Then I proceed to pick up Togo's for lunch for myself and drop off some donation articles at Goodwill. The Los Angeles King's ice hockey game comes on at noon and I watch the game and am disappointed as the Kings look a bit lethargic and lose 2-0. AFter mowing the lawn I watch a wet and wild Moto2 race where there is lots of action, lots of crashes, and ends with one rider pushing his bike the length of the straight to cross the finish line (though I don't know if his motorbike broke or he ran out of gasoline). And then I get ready for a long week at work of testing.

Monday and Tuesday are good productive days at work as we test some hardware. There are 5 customers or customer representatives present and I try to babysit them and keep them away from the people performing the test. And I stay on top of the data from the test and explaining it to the customers. After work on Monday and Tuesday I get in a good session with the weights and then go walking. On Monday Person Ti_Ca and I watch the final Desperate Housewives, and as I expected, they live happily ever after.

We finish the testing on Wednesday morning and I wish the customers a safe trip back to their home facilities. For the remainder of Wednesday and Thursday I try to be productive on post-test reporting and other tasks. Wednesday is a good day to increase the weights for the workout and I enjoy the workout. On Thursday I go for a long walk after work, grab a qucik shower, and go to Joseph's house to sign some official papers. And then the long weekend starts.

Friday starts with drizzle but I head out for the long ride to the pier and back. I was going to take the road bicycle out for a long ride, but it had a flat rear tire. After a shower I go to the ATM, go to the library to return books and get another one, and then go to the bicycle store to buy a new rear tire and new tube. I install the tube and then relax for a bit and then clean the inside of all of the windows in the house. Person Ti_Ca and I drive to Los Angeles airport to pick up Lida who is returning from three weeks in Cambodia. We drop her off at her apartment and head for home. I tell Person Ti_Ca, "You have to tell me now if you want me to go out tonight or not because if not, then I'm going to take an actifed and sleep". So shortly thereafter I take an actifed and within an hour or two I'm stumbling around the house dropping off to sleep. I sleep very deeply and barely hear Person Ti_Ca come home at 3:45 am from hanging out with friends.

Saturday starts with a disastrous qualifying session for the Grand Prix of Monaco. My favorite can only get eighth and "the cheater" gets the pole - but has to serve a 5 place penalty and will start 6th. I get out on the road bicycle for the loop ride with an extension for a total of 30 miles and realizes that the new tire and tube are good but it was probably my installation of the last tube (in the old tire) that caused the unstable ride and the flat. I run a couple of errands and get down for a 90 minute nap in the middle of the afternoon. Just after 4pm I get up and edge and mow the lawn, trim the roses, and start in on washing the outside of all of the windows in the house. I've told Person Ti_CA that he has to help, and been telling him for a week, but it isn't going to happen even if he says he'll help finish on Monday. After another shower I relax into the early evening.

Sunday starts with the beginning of the Grand Prix of Monaco. I pause the race about a third distance in to go out cycling. I get down to the pier and back and then grab a shower andw atch the Indianapolis 500. I have the race playing in the background as I do other errands around the house. After the race is over I get out and finish washing the outside of the windows. And then I get back to the Monaco race where my favorite driver employs a different strategy from everyone else to jump from 8th to 4th at the end (with some rain falling at times that could have made the outcome very interesting). After the race I lay down and read a bit and then take a 35 minute walk around the park and to the grocery store. I'm starting to drag now so I relax for the rest of the evening.

Memorial Day is a slow day. I do get out for an extra long ride along the ocean in the morning and then relax for a bit. As I'm waiting for a scheduled 2pm teleconference (related to child adoption) my lower back starts hurting. What's going on here? We have the hour long teleconference with various people and chart a plan of action. Person Ti_Ca then drive down to the beach for him to cycle and me to skate. My lower back is continuing to provide a low dull ache as well as instability, so I just take my time and skate along slowly. There are lots of people at the beach today and near the aquarium. After the skate I start some laundry and Person Ti_Ca and I have dinner while watching various movies on television. And I finally get to bed to read near 10 pm.

Tuesday is citizenship day! Person Ti_Ca has his citizenship interview. I don't go out cycling in the morning (because there isn't enough time) and I don't even get out walking (because I'm lazy and my lower back still hurts). At 9 am Person Ti_Ca start out for the Federal building in dowtown Los Angeles for his interview. We wait in the big room for about an hour past his 10:30 interview time. When he's called for the interview I find a different seat away from an annoying guy who won't quit talking. Before I know it Person Ti_Ca is coming back into the room looking for me - he's passed the quiz and reading and writing examination with flying colors! He'll be a United States citizen in a few months. We drive back towards home and go celebrate at an Italian restaurant and then go back home and watch a movie or two. I manage to sneak in a good workout with the weights before we run an errand to get fill up Person Ti_Ca's car with oil. And then I relax as I have to go back to work after 5 days off.
