Tuesday is a productive day at work as I put my head down and try to make progress on a test article before we run the test. At the end of the day I rush on home and go out walking. Person Ti_Ca intercepts me and we drive to Vons for supplies and then return home. Except now he decides that he needs 20 minutes for something so I go out walking for 30 minutes. And then we do homework until the evening is over.
On Wednesday and Thursday it threatens rains and does actually rain but I'm on the Yamaha YZF-R1 motorbike anyway. Both Wednesday and Thursday are productive days at work. During lunch on Wednesday we are in a review and lunch is provided. So everyone grabs their lunch and continues working. When everybody has had lunch I go back and get seconds on veegtables. I'm eating the vegetables and I have a realization: You're already full and yet you're still stuffing yourself with food. Why am I doing this? For the next two hours I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing - I probably didn't hear much of the rest of the meeting. This thought of eating beyond capacity or need is really bothering me. At times for those two hours I'm almost in tears because I don't know what I'm doing. On Wednesday I come home early, have another great high repetition, extra set workout, and then go out with Sim for green tea and strawberry flavored drinks. She keeps hearing more and more irrational behavior on the part of her ex of 25 years that she needs to talk about it. At the end of the evening when I'm home the "stuffing myself beyond need" thought continues to bother me. I'm almost in tears again as I try to play through in my mind whats going on and what I'm doing.
Thursday is a productive day at work though I keep thinking about the "stuff myself beyond need". I leave work early on Thursday for an annual physical. As I'm talking with the doctor I tell him about my revelation from two days ago and he says, "Self knowledge is the first step in changing one's behavior". It's good advice. Though my weight is up this year, the doctor is happy with the physical subject to blood test results. I ride on home and work the abdominals and lower back and then watch two ice hockey 7th games - one goes to double overtime before a winner is decided.
Friday starts with a great ride to the pier and back. My legs feel strong throughout. After a shower I run a few errands including getting a vaccination for shingles at the local pharmacy. Near noon some people come to steam clean the carpet. Person Ti_Ca go and run a number of errands related to family and bushes and furniture. Later in the evening Person Ti_Ca go to eat Greek food down on 2nd street and enjoy the evening.
Saturday starts with a motorbike trip to the health clinic for a blood test. There are many people ahead of me and I wait one hour to get blood drawn. It's a Khmer nurse drawing my blood and we speak about my trips to Cambodia while she draws my blood. When I get home I work on a repairing an old gate before getting out for a bicycle ride. Person Ti_Ca starts out on the ride but turns back for home after a few miles. During the ride I run into a co-worker again and we stop and chat before I enjoy the tailwind helping me get back home. In the afternoon Person Ti_Ca and I do homework before we go grab dinner and watch some television.
Sunday starts with the MotoGP race from Jerez, Spain. SInce my favorites are having difficulties with their bikes, I can only hope against my least favorites. After the race I get out for a long ride to the pier and back and though it is my third ride in three days my legs feel very strong and I crank along nicely. When I get home I have a text message from Person Ti_Ca who has forgot his food for work at home. So after a shower and some grocery shopping I take the food to Person Ti_Ca at work and talk with him for a bit before continuing on. I clean the bathrooms and later mow/edge the lawn and trim the roses. The Brasilian Indy Car race is kinda boring also. I can only hope for a fun and entertaining Moto2 race. Which it is as it ends up being shortened due to rain but there are fun battles.
Monay is a reasonable day at work and it goes by fairly fast. Before I know it it is almost 3:30 with one more task to finish before I cango home. During the day the doctor's assistant calls and says that my glucose is a bit elevated and the doctor wills end me information about trying to lower it. I get in a great high repetition workout with the weights, water the lawn, and then cheer wildly for the Los Angeles Kings in their playoff game. I'm surprised that the neighbors do not come by since the Kings are doing well and I'm yelling my enthusiasm.
But the week slows down on Tuesday through Friday. After work I'm tied up with homework with Person Ti_Ca and Ben on Tuesday, other errands with Person Ti_Ca on Wednesday, and a long motorbike ride to Calabasas and venture capitalists on Thursday. When I get home on Wednesday after work I increase the rates and finally drop the reptitions to 10 per set as I decide that the high repetition sets have served their purpose. I also get notice from the doctor that all of my bloodwork is very very good except my blood glucose is 102 (with the maximum being 99). The doctor enrolls me in a pre-diabetes avoidance class that I have to schedule and wants me to come back in 6 months for another blood test. All of this related to 3 points over the normal range out of a scal of 99? Well, it is time to lose a few pounds and start eating better. On Friday after work I lift weights and trim some of the lawn and then relax. Person Ti_Ca has some problems to work through so he goes down for a nap near 5 pm. By 7pm he is still sleeping so I walk over to First Friday's and wander the streets aimlessly. There is a reasonable crowd but there aren't as many street performers as usual and I'm somewhat bored. Person Ti_Ca calls and wants me to pick up some Japanese food so I turn back to the restaurant. As I'm turning back I run into a friend and his friend and we have a brief chat before I walk back to the Japanese restaurant, pick up the food, and then walk home. Person Ti_Ca and I watch some television programs that we watch and have recorded and then it is time for sleep.
Saturday starts with MotoGP qualifying (via the Internet) and then a long road bicycle ride. Today I fight the Tour de Long Beach cyclists along the way. Eventually I quit at 35 miles after having a cranking good time throughout the ride. Person Ti_Ca and I go run some errands including buying furniture for the spare bedroom (which becomes Person Ti_Ca's bedroom). In the afternoon Person Ti_Ca announces that he is going for a bicycle ride. This is kinda strange, but I know he has some things to work out so I go mow and trim the lawn. About 80 minutes later Person Ti_Ca is returning just as I have finished up with my yardwork. Later in the evening we do some homework and relax - I am still tired from the morning's great ride.
Sunday starts with the (boring) MotoGP race. It is very processional and there are no real battles after the first few laps. Maybe this new MotoGP formula isn't working? I get out for a long bicycle ride down the Los Angeles river, along the ocean, and to the pier before I turn around and head for home. The legs are feeling strong to start the ride but are a bit tired by the end as a result of Saturday's good ride. At noon I watch the Los Angleles Kings ice hockey playoff game as they sweep their opponents and move along.
On Monday I stay late at work to get some thigns done (and to void Person Ti_Ca who is giving me the silent treatment from Sunday). I take a break during the later part of the workday, change into casual clothes, and go for an hour long walk before returning to work. Eventually I head for home and get Person Ti_Ca to gve up the silent treatment before I go walking for another 30 minutes and then we do homework.
