I have productive days at work on Tuesday and Wednesday as I ignore the uncertainty at work and just involve myself in my work. On Tuesday I am a bit lazy and just go for a long walk after work. And I know the consequences - I have trouble sleeping on Tuesday night. On Wednesday I leave work a bit early and take work home with me. I get in another 15 repetition workout and assume that I will sleep well. As on Tuesday, I spend a fair amount of time in the evening on work things since I have no other engagements at this time.
Thursday is a blah day at work and after work. I try to be productive and struggle along at work. And do actually make some progress. But not enough to feel good about it. After work I drag Person Ti_Ca out for a 40 minute walk and then we relax.
Friday starts with a long bicycle ride. Today I have new cycling shorts and new cycling eyewear (to keep the bugs out of my eyes). During today's ride I feel extremely strong throughout and "on top" of all of the gears. After the ride Person Ti_Ca and I ride the trains to Chinatown near downtown Los Angeles and go ring shopping at Khmer/Chinese jewelry stores. We eventually find something that works and make the necessary arrangements. We ride the train back home and totally stuff ourselves on salad and fixings before heading home and taking a short nap. Near 7 pm we call Sim and the three of us walk over to First Fridays. There's a two person band that I really like called Babes in Toyland type of punk. I eventually sign up for their mailing list for upcoming shows. We eventually drag ourselves back home and fall off to sleep - I'm tired from the cycling, the walking in Chinatown, and the walking at First Fridays.
Saturday starts with a walk to the store to buy some supplies and waiting for the morning to warm up a bit to go cycling. I take out the road bicycle and do the 40 mile ride up and over the Whittier Narrows dam. There's a headwind the whole way up to the dam rthat actually gets me going and then I enjoy a modest tailwind back towards home. Needless to say I am tired and can barely help Person Ti_Ca with homework and mow the lawn for the rest of the day.
Sunday starts a bit earlier than usual because it is supposed to be hot today. I get out for a long ride past the pier on the mountain bicycle today before Person Ti_Ca has left for work. Because we have Santa Ana conditions there is a headwind the entire way home. But I feel strong again and just keep cranking along. When I get home Person Ti_Ca has called and said that his battery has died. So I take a shower, drive to his work place, remove his dyeing battery, take it to the autoparts store and buy a new one, and install the new battery into his car. The entire process only takes 75 minutes before I head back for some grocery shopping and relaxing on a very hot Sunday afternoon.
The entire workweek of Monday through Friday is a blur. Karl comes to visit from Florida so I try to be productive at work and then rush on home to go cycling with Karl and then have dinner with Karl and Person Ti_Ca. We have a lot of fun sharing plans and re-living some old times. But I'm up late each night and getting to work early, so by Thursday night I am tired and tell Karl that he can rent a DVD if he wants but I'll probably fall asleep in the middle of it.
Friday starts with some paperwork tasks. When Karl wakes up we go eat, get some bicycle supplies, pick up an HDMI cable, re-tune my surround sound processor at home, and then we get out for a long bicycle ride. The ride takes us past the pier and out to the old Long Beach Yacht club. Both of us are tired and physically hung over from the previous day's rides but we still crank along and maintain a good pace. After cleaning up and relaxing, Karl, Person Ti_Ca, and I go have a light dinner. When we have finished eating and left the restaurant, Karl and Person Ti_Ca say "We should go eat noodles". But we just finished eating 10 minutes ago. So we drive up to ThaiTown, have difficulty parking (of course), and now we bypass a Thai noodle shop for a generic Thai restaurant for desert. Except that this restaurant doesn't have desert so Karl and Person Ti_Ca split two fish dishes as I just look on in amazement and continue with the "But we just ate ten minutes ago" reasoning. Eventually we finish the second dinner and go to a club in West Hollywood.
We get to the herd/clone club near 11 pm. There are a lot of acquaintances and friends here tonight - too many to list. So we enjoy taking Karl around and introducing him to friends and milling about. When the club closes we stay around for a bit and say goodbye to everyone and then rush on home. The lights are going out for sleep at 3:15 am on Saturday morning.
On Saturday I wake up at 6:30 am and make a quick trip to the grocery store for supplies. I do some financial bookeeping updates and some paperwork. As I'm waiting for everyone else to wake up I water the impatiens, wipe down the Yamaha YZF-R1 (after it was rained on a short while ago), clean and lubricate the garage door rails and hinges, and a few other little tasks. After eating Cambodian food for lunch, the three of us set out for a long bicycle ride past the pier. Both Karl and I are tired from previous rides and Person Ti_Ca needs some pulls, but it is a great ride. After getting cleaned up we have a nice dinner and I am falling off the cliff of consciousness. Thus when I get home and I head directly for sleep near 9 pm.
On Sunday morning I get Karl out the door for the airport and Person Ti_Ca out the door for work and I start out for a bicycle ride. We've lost an hour of sleep and the weather has suddenly turned overcast and chilly, but I enjoy the ride. SInce my legs and I am tired I keep thinking that this will be a short ride but I keep riding a little bit farther and a little bit farther away from home against the wind and then finally turn around. After a shower and some grocery shopping I just cannot sit still. So I clean and vacuum the carpet, put away the bicycles, trim the roses (which are looking very healthy), water the lawn, clean up the bedrooms and bathrooms, do the laundry, work on paperwork, and clean up the kitchen. Later I help Person Ti_Ca with some homework and then I drop off to sleep.
On Monday we discover some errors at work and we set about fixing them. This delays a delivery but it is important to get it right. When I get home I go for a long walk and then help Person Ti_Ca and Sallia with homework. As I am dropping off to sleep something is bothering me and I realize that we haven't found all of the errors and we'll have to delay the delivery another day.
