Valentine's Day and Beyond

On Tuesday we make a lot of progress on our test and finish very early. But now we have to wait for some unit being tested that is going very slowly. Since we finished early, I leave work early and pick up Valentine's Day flowers and then have a good heavy one repetition set for the pull muscle group. When Person Ti_Ca comes over we start driving to a restaurant and, of course, there is a lot of traffic. When we get to the restaurant we don't even get out of the car because there are so many people waiting outside the door. So we drive to another restaurant but find a one hour wait for seats. So finally we walk over to another restaurant where the wait is only 45 minutes. We go browsing stores nearby until we are seated for a nice dinner. When we return home we work on some homework and then call it a night.

It is supposed to rain on Wednesday but I ride the motorbike to work anyway. I have a productve day and watch the rain pour down for while near the noon hour. But then it clears up and turns sunny even if windy and very cold. Since we are not testing today I leave early and get in a great one repetition set for the push muscle group and then walk to the grocery store. I'm supposed to take some time off from lifting but these workouts are so productive and challenging that I'm having a hard time taking a break. Later in the evening Person Ti_Ca comes over and we do homework in advance of his math quiz on Thursday.

Thursday is a productive day at work as, once we get set up, we get through one axis of testing very quickly. And then we have to wait for the set up of the next axis. I leave work a bit early and walk to the grocery store to buy cookies for the work team. And then I have another one repatition set for the pull muscle group. And now I vow to take off until at least Tuesday for lifting.

Friday is supposed to be our off day at work but we want to get through this test. So we start testing early on Friday. We make a lot of progress and just after noon we are finished with testing. I go back to my office and finish a few things and then I return home. I give the Yamaha YZF-R1 a quick wash when I get home before Person Ti_Ca and I go for a bicycle north on the Los Angeles river. As we are ridng there are a lot of bugs and one gets in my eye. This has happened before so it's not a big deal. After the ride Person Ti_Ca and I go eat dinner at Islands and watch "Safe House". Unfortunately the theatre is crowded and we have to sit 10 feet away from the screen. Besides sitting to close to the screen, my eye is starting to bother me. Thus I don't enjoy the movie as well as I might.

On Saturday morning my eye is sore and red, but I wait for the morning to warm up and then get out for a good bicycle ride. When I finish the ride I make an appointment with the eye doctor. Today the library is closed so I can only return the old books and not get new ones. The eye doctor sees the redness and sees a lot of inflammation but cannot see the bug in the eye (or under the eyelids). So he gives me an anti-inflammatory and antibiotic eye drop and we'll see how things look in a few days. Person Ti_Ca and I do some homework and eventually eat the Valentine's day cake that he bought. We kept saying "We should have Valentine's Day cake today", but we didn't get to it until today.

Sunday starts with me milling around the house waiting for the morning to warm up a bit. I get out for a long ride to the pier and back and my legs feel strong today. After a shower I walk to the ATM and to the store for supplies. I then fertilize and water the front yard to try and kickstart the growth. Eventually I grab lunch though it is between lunch and dinner. And then I both claybar and wax the Yamaha YZF-R1. When i am finished the motorbike looks very good thought it cannot claim to look brand new (since it is ten years old - ten years of everyday riding). The rest of the day is spent relaxing and working on paperwork that needs to get done.

Monday, President's Day, is supposed to be a work day. But since I worked on our off Friday for the testing, I don't go to work today. Instead I get out for another greta bicycle ride in the cold weather. When I am done the entire organism is getting fairly tired from four good rides in four days. After a shower I do little errands around the house and Person Ti_Ca watch last night's recorded "Desperate Housewives". After we work on homework Person Ti_Ca goes out with friends and I relax at home and catch up on more paperwork and webwork.

On Tuesday and Wednesday I clean up small tasks at work as I wait for forthcoming information. The information is received on Wednesday and I rapidly start using it to get my work done. On Tuesday I'm having a slow day so I just try to do a lot of walking throughout the day and don't get in a workout. After work Person Ti_Ca and I work on homework. On Wednesday after work I do two sets of 15 repetition sets. Though the weights are lighter, these are still killer workouts because the muscles are under tension for extended periods of time. The pump after this workout lasts for a long time! And then I do some "catch up" things for work on Wednesday night.

On Friday I take the motorbike up to a Northrop Grumman facility in Azusa to perform an audit and to offer suggestions. All of the people at Azusa are friendly and knowledgable and treat me as family. It turns out that they are doing many things right and only need a few corrections. After lunch I head back for my office and work on a few things befor eI ride on home. I get in a good 15 repetition set, take a quick shower, and go have dinner with Person Ti_Ca. We again try for a specific restaurant and the wait is 45 minutes, so we try another restaurant closer to home and have a nice dinner (with leftovers for another two days).

Saturday starts with a great bicycle ride down to the pier and back. After a shower I ride the bicycle over to Sim's house to help her install door locks and hang some pictures. As we are working along we are re-establishing our friendship (under the difficult circumstances of her break-up). SO we spend a fair amount of time just talking. When I return home I help Person Ti_Ca withhomework and then we go have dinner. After dinner we do some more homework and then I head for bed. I have been extremely tired for the last two weeks or so.

Sunday starts with a cold and chilly ride down to the pier and back. I feel very strong again today once I get going and enjoy the ride. Afterwards I run some errands including getting gasoline for the World Rally Car that has only been driven 134 miles in 6 weeks. On Sunday afternoon I relax around the house and do some cleaning in advance of Dr Karl's visit in a week.

Though there is the possibility of rain, I ride the motorbike to work on Monday. A number of people ask why I rode when it is supposed to rain. But if I have to explain it... There is rain in the middle of the day and the recently claybarred and waxed motorcycle is now wet. Before 3 pm I get on the bike and ride to another building for a productive meeting and then I ride on home. Though the sky is very dark, I don't realyl get wet. I have a good 15 repetition wrkout with the weights before Person Ti_Ca go to the grocery store and then cook dinner and bake brownies.
