Tuesday is productive at work during the morning and then the day starts lagging. I'm in a meeting with an independent team prior to (probably) going over to my new assignment. And the more that the independent review team says, the less I'm liking my (probable) new assignment. I thought that my previous program was messed up but this (probable) new one is worse. Thus I leave work and get in a good session with the pull muscle group and then work in the front yeard to remove weeds around the bushes. Because it is warm I'm sweating during the ffort (as a continuation of the good workout) and feel good after I have finished the job. A warm shower and warm clothes finish the day - I feel good but my voice is a bit rough and I;m wondering if it's a sign of impending illness. Thus the warm clothes for this evening.
On Wednesday morning I wake up at 1:30 in the morning in severe pain. The pain spreads from my sinus region down into the teeth, gums, and jawline. I get up and put ice on the region and it feels better, but what will happen in 20 minutes?
When I finally get out of bed at 5:30 on Wednesday morning I have a 0.8 degree fever and I know it is time to get to the doctor. But I go to work and have a great, successfull day of testing before I leave work and visit my health care clinic. Today it is only a 30 minute wait before I tell the doctor what I want, why I want it, why it will work, and when I will come back for a follow-up visit if my symptoms have not retreated. He gives me everything that I want. I pick up the antibiotics and pain relief medicine and go for a 35 minute walk and then relax. Person Ti_Ca hears that I am sick and he comes to visit. I am so happy that he visits and I tell him so and ask him, "Since we've been together for 12 months, what is the longest time period that we have been separated in that 12 months?" We both try and figure out the answer and decide that the answer is probably 6 days.
On Thursday morning my fever is down to 0.6 degrees and I have a very productive day at work. I work on Matlab scripts for random vibration analysis and I work on various models for test configurations. Near noon I walking for 35 minutes and then have a semi-productive afternoon. When I leave work I walk to the grocery store for supplies and expect to help Ralph's daughter, Sallia, with her university homework over the phone. Unfortunately i throw up twice during the evening and do my best to not pass out, so the homework help is postponed.
I wake up Friday morning with the same 0.6 degree fever and have a productive day at work. I feel better but the lingering minor fever and the weird body are troublesome. Person Ti_Ca is waiting for me when I arrive home but I get in a heavy workout with the weights, take a shower, and then we go printer shopping and have Thai food for dinner. Later in the evening we watch a recorded "Modern Family" and now Person Ti_Ca has downloaded some old "Desperate Housewives" episodes and he's catching up on the show.
On Saturday morning I still have the 0.6 degree fever and I wait for the morning to warm up before attempting to go cycling. When I start outt he morning is colder than it has been recently and throughout the entire extended aquarium ride the exposed bodyparts, such as face and neck and fingers, are cold. A warm shower gets me ready to help Person Ti_Ca with homework. After a while we take a break for lunch and I go check the oil on Person Ti_Ca's car and then I clean the inside out. It hasn't been cleaned since he bought the car back in August. We work away on more homework until Person Ti_Ca goes off for dinner with his friends and I do some paperwork around the house and watch football.
On Sunday I wake up with my body temperature back to normal. I wait for the morning to warm up a bit and, as Person Ti_Ca is driving off to work, I'm riding down the street on the mountain bicycle. As I'm starting off the rain is starting and I consider turning back for home since it is a cold rain, but I keep going. The rain holds off for the entirety (more or less) of the extended aquarium ride and I'm glad to be back home and taking a nice warm shower. I spend a majority of the day just staying warm and watching football. It's a quiet day and one that I needed in advance of the expected chaos at work this week.
Monday is a blah day. My body temperature has stabilized at a normal temperature but I'm unmotivated at work. I do manage to accomplish some tasks but far less than i should. When I get home Person Ti_Ca is waiting and I get in a very heavy push muscle group workout before I see Person Ti_Ca off for dinner with a friend. I just do some grocery shopping and some adoptions programming and watch the recorded "Desperate Housewives" from Sunday night. It's a very cold day and I'm just staying in and staying warm to avoid any sort of relapse.
Tuesday is another blah day but I try to complete some tasks. When the scheduler comes by for a status and I am able to give an "on track" status to all of my tasks, both he and I are amazed. We are both in shock that we sit there for a few seconds and then agree that it is party time. When I get home I have a heavy pull session with the weights and then a quick shower before helping Person Ti_Ca out with his homework. When he leaves for class I go to the grocery store and then come back to start filling out an application for a promotion at work. My boss has told me I have to pump up all of my accomplishments and leave no stone unturned. This is hard to do.
Wednesday and Thursday are semi-productive days at work that are over-shadowed by heavy workouts for the push and pull muscle, groups, respectively. On Thursday night things seems okay until Person Ti_Ca and I get into a little argument. Person Ti_Ca leaves for the evening but has soon returned to talk about the argument. We discuss the situation in a mature manner and then Person Ti_Ca leaves for the evening (because he has to take his brother to work at 4:20 am).
Person Ti_Ca comes over nea5 5 am but I just stay in bed as he plays on the Internet. Eventaully I get out of bed and Person Ti_Ca and I have a lengthy discussion about our recent argument and what we did wrong. And then we both agree to tryharder at making our relationship work. And this shows ANOTHER reaon of many that I love Person Ti_Ca: We can argue and try to come to a resoltuion and then we both don't hold it against each other - we both try to be happy and move one. Friday continues with the extended aquarium bicycle ride when the morning has warmed up. Afterwards I ride the Yamaha YZF-R1 to the delaer for them to install the part that finally came in. I'm supposed to visit a friend, Person D_L in the afternoon, but he cancels at the last minute. Person Ti_Ca and I spend time together doing homework.
Saturday morning is raining so I take Person Ti_Ca's car in for an oil change. Eventually the rain clears and I'm able to get in a good run. I'll be sore for a few days after this run becauze I haven't run for a while. Person Ti_Ca and his friend go off to see a movie and have dinner while Ruby and I work on websites and PowerPoint charts for the conference on Monday, And I just enjoy a few moments alone and away from chaos on Saturday evening.
I see Person Ti_Ca off for work and I go out for a ride around the aquarium. It's a shorter ride today because I have to get some laundry done and pack for the Chadwick Conference on child abuse. Ruby picks me up after 3 pm and we drive down and get out hotel rooms. We meet up with Ruby's boss and go have dinner and watch the football game in the background. Since Monday will be a long day, I'm in bed and down for sleep just after 10 pm.
Monday is a very long day. The Chadwick Conference starts at 8 am and there are presentations throughout the morning. I make my presentation and Ruby and Dr Michael Durfee, a bigwig for this conference, are happy with my presentation. At the mid-morning break an adminstrator from Miller Children's hospital in Long Beach seeks us out and wants to talk with us further. As well as people from UCLA and the central valley in California. We have a nice lunch and continue to discuss child abuse and child welfare and Internet-based methods to reduce and track child abuse. During the afternoon Ruby and I drive to a local mall (that Person Ti_Ca and I visited a few months ago) and we buy gifts for our partners. Later in the day there is a reception and, in addition to shadwoing Ruby and her boss for frutifull dicsussions, I week out the social workers from Taiwan. The four women from Taiwan are enthused that someone has sought them out and we have a long discussion about child abuse, culture, places to visit, and fun topics. I eventually leave them but they have my number if they want to call. Ruby and I catch back up and finally check out of our hotel rooms and drive home. During the drive home we have very intense discussions about our path forward. I'm back at home and dropping off for sleep near 11 pm on Monday night.
I have deep sleep on Monday night and don't want to wake up when the alarm goes off on Tuesday morning. I have an unproductive day at work and leave a bit early to do grocery shopping, have a heavy push muscle group workout, water some planets, and tidy up the driveway after the heavy rains. During the evening I do some web programming for the Long Beach hospital and watch Sunday's "Desperate Housewives". And call try to call quits for the day near 10 pm.
But I receive a phone call from Sim. This is a shock since I have not received a phone call from her for 15 years. She lives a half mile away and except for random meetings, we never talk. She tells me that her boyfriend of 25 years has left her after some recent infidelity. We have a very long phone conversation and agree to get together to hang out on Thursday night to talk.
