Recovery

New Year's day starts a bit foggy and chilly but I get out for the road loop ride. Towards then end of the ride I am a bit tired because it is the fourth ride in four days and seveneth ride in ten days. After a shower I wax both bicycles so that they are both clean and shiny for the new year. And then I have a slow day watching football and getting ready to go back to work.

On Monday there is nobody on the freeways as everyone (except us) has the day off. It's a quiet day at work and I try to slowly get back into the swing of things. After work I get in a good pull muscle group workout and grab a shower before a surprise visit from Person Ti_Ca and his best friend, Lida. We have a nice visit until they find the movie and time that they want to go see. I decline to go because I have some adoptions programming to finish off.

Tuesday is, hopefully, the last drive to work day. It's a fairly productive day and I help people out interpreting test data and re-processing the data to coax great infromation out of the messy modal data. I receive a phone call saying that the motorbike can be picked up though a critical part will not be available until next week. Thus I have Person Ti_Ca meet me at home and drive me to the motorbike repair place and then I ride home. Without the new critical part it is possible that the motorbike will have trouble starting again, but the mechanic gives me some unusual tips and I hope things work out. When I get home I have a good push muscle group workout and then take care of paperwork at home.

It feels great to be back on the motorbike for commuting! I have a productive Wednesday and we get set up to run a developmental debugging test on Thursday. It should be fun to make sense of more data. After work I get in a workout for the pull muscle group and grab a quick shower. Person Ti_Ca and two of his friends have gone to the beach and they stop by afterwards. One I met last week and the other I'm meeting for the first time. They visit for a short time and then are off to a buffet dinner. I decline the invitation to save some money and to do some work around the house.

On Thursday I struggle out of bed and enjoy the motorbike commute to work. Life is always better when you are on two weheels of any sort. A co-worker and I have two different test sessions with some troublesome hardware throughout the day and we both try to make sense of the test data. At the end of the day I rush on home, walk to the store for some supplies, and get in a good workout for the abdominals. Later Person Ti_Ca comes over and we enjoy each other's company as (almost) always.

Friday starts with the extended aquarium bicycle ride after the morning has warmed up a bit. After the ride I return three books to the library and meet with Ruby. We've slightly switched gears to infant fatality and hopsital networking (away from adoptions) and we work to get things together for an upcoming conference. As I return home Person Ti_Ca calls and we meet at the grocery store with his friends to buy various supplies. Afterwards they go to eat dinner while I hard prune the roses. Later Person Ti_Ca comes over and we take a nap and then are awakened by his friends to go out clubbing. We get up to the club pretty early to walk around the area and then have a fairly enjoyable night out. We run into various friends and acquaintances and make the most of the night out. When the club closes at 2 am we hang out for a while and then rush home for sleep - Person Ti_Ca's friends having a short drive to another part of Long Beach. The lights go out after 3am.

Saturday starts with the extended aqaurium bicycle ride after the morning has cleared a bit. As typically happens, the ride is strong even though I've only had three hours of sleep. How does that happen? After a shwoer I get gasoline, get the car washed, pick up lunch, get some new impatiens to plant ( to replace the ones that were killed in the hail storm a few weeks back), and do some grocery shopping. I've come up with a good idea for the child abuse network and work on that as Person Ti_Ca waits for his friends to arrive. When they arrive they head for the beach and I head for the backyard to finish cleaning the backyard, the roses, and other flower beds. And eventually I get down to watch the Detroit Lions' first playoff game in 13 years.

Person Ti_Ca heads for work on Sunday morning and I start off on a bicycle ride. Since I've had two good rides in the last two days and had little sleep, I expect a short ride. But the more ride the better I feel so I just keep going. By the end of the ride I'm tired but it feels good. I finish some yard cleaning when I get home, grab a shower, and watch some more playoff football. During the first game I get out and get wax on a majority of the World Rally Car and then just have a quiet day at home.

Monday is a blah day at work as I try to get back into the swing of things. When I go home I walk to the grocery store for supplies, have a good workout for the push muscle group, sweep the hardwood floors, and make some phone calls regarding billing disputes. The college football game is on in the background, but I don't really care. And then I watch the rcorder "Desperate Housewives" from Sunday and relax for the evening.
