Tuesday and Wednesday are continued days of mind-boggling frustration. In between interuptions where I am asked to void Newton's laws and make up a new set of physics to fit into the budegt and schedule, I put my head down and work on real work - rather than just sit in meetings and teleconferences. On Wednesday after a particularly frustrating meeting towards the end of the day I have just a super workout with the weights. I've increased the weights for each lift and still get the same number of repetitions as before.
On the Thursday motorcycle ride to work I notice early on the ride that I am riding erraticly. Thus at mid-ride I slow down to 85-90 mph and take my time getting to work. The day proceeds with some productivity, but my mind is on the upcoming three day weekend. When I get home there are already voice mails from work indicating that I have to call in to a 1 pm teleconference on Friday. Thus I have another great session with the weights, mow the lawn, and cool down with a shower. The evening is spent relaxing and reading. Late on Friday I have a 50 minute conversation with Person SZ_B. Person SZ_B is the Burmese lady who had the photo presentation a few weeks ago. We agree to talk again soon and maybe hang out when life calms down a bit.
Friday starts slowly but I get in a good aquarium ride before the day gets too hot. The 1 pm teleconference goes well and I eventually lay down for a nap. After the nap I get in a very good session with the weights and then an additional stress relieving walk. The evning is slow with phone calls from Person T_U and Person C_T.
Saturday also starts slow with qualifying from China for the F1 race. After qualifying I head on out for the loop ride on the road bicycle. It's good to put in a little extra distance today. During the ride I come across two walk-a-thons that I have to weave my way through - one near downtown Long Beach and another near El Dorado Park. Is this getting out of hand? After a shower I start in on the few errands that I have this weekend. And then in the middle of the afternoon I get down for a nap. Two hours later I wake up and wonder where all of that tiredness came from. Later in the evening I get in a great session with the weights, take a nice warm shower, and drive up to West Hollywood to party.
I arrive at one club near 10:30 pm and hang out with a Red Bull and 7-Up. Person T_U arrives near 11:30 and we walk over to a second club. The music at the second club is very good and before I know it Person T_U is calling it quits for the night. I continue to enjoy the good underground mixes of music and try to be oblivious to those around me. There are two offers tonight, but I'm just having fun and staying out of trouble. Finally as we approach 2:45 am on Sunday morning I decide to head for home. Thus I walk two blocks along the empty streets to where I am parked and take my time getting home tonight. The lights go out for sleep at 3:45 am on Sunday morning.
The alarm goes off before 7 am and Sunday starts with an exciting Grand Prix of China and also involves the exciting MotoGP from Malaysia. Both sets of results are good. At mid morning I get out for the aquarium bicycle ride and I am surprisingly strong considering only three hours of sleep and good rides on the previous two days. Besides the racing I watch some football and do small garage and gardening errands around the house until I get in a good session with the weights early on Sunday evening. And now I'm tired!
Monday is a day full of meetings and teleconferences. I continue to tell people at work, as I have for the past two weeks, that I could get finished with a certain assignment if I could just get a block of 4-8 hours un-interupted. It doesn't happen today. When I get home I have another great session with the weights and watch the recorded "Desperate Housewives". And then I do homework and more work work.
The rest of the week is a blur of meetings, teleconferences, the last class, motorbike rides, a resourcescout meeting, and workouts. On Thursday as I'm working out I walk into the backyard and see the cat laying against the fence. The cat usually runs from me when it sees me and jumps over the fence. It must just be sleeping, so I give the fence a bit of a kick to wake it. But the cat does not wake up or move. But as I get closer I see that the cat is wedged into the chain link fence and that it has no head. It appears that an animal has tried to drag the cat through the chain link fence and shreaded its head. The cat is...dead. I return to my workout and say prayers for the cat and the owners as I prepare myself to clean up the mess. The cat is still somewhat supple so the death did not happen long ago. But as I pry the cat out of the chain link fence I confirm that there is no head left. I say more prayers and then dispose of properly.
On Friday I leave work a bit early because I already have enough hours in. Late in the evening I have a great workout with the weights, take a shower, and head for clubs in West Hollywood. I meet up with Person T_U at one club and I introduce myself and Person T_U to two people. We have a nice little conversation, I give Person JJ_P my phone number, and then we agree to meet up later at another club. Person T_U and I walk over to the other club and try to enjoy the evening with a number of acquaintances present. Person T_U leaves at 1:25 am and I hang out until closing. After the club closes I han out some more, tell person JJ_P to call me, and then get ready to drive home. Except that as I'm fighting off an unwanted offer I see Person E_Ice wandering around. Person E_Ice and I have a 30 minute conversation as Person E_Ice is fighting off prostate cancer and one of Person E_Ice's ex is battling AIDS. Eventually I head for home and turn off the lights for sleep at 3:45 am on Saturday morning.
On Saturday I'm up near 7 am to do the laundry and work on many little errands around the house. As I'm about to go for a bicycle ride Person M_Fl stops by and we have a nice but short visit on his lunch hour. And then I get out for the aquarium bicycle ride. Today I am a bit slow and tired, but I just spin away in the warm and dry heat and enjoy the day.
On Saturday night I start assessing the current state of things and I don't like the answers. It has been a starnge week - pure crap at work, a decapitated cat, the last day of class, great workouts, Person JJ_P, Person E_Ice's prostate cancer tribulations, the friend's AIDS struggles, and plans for the trip coming together. I try to keep some update music music going with the Global Domination mix, but I'm still a bit confused. It has been a long time since these feelings have surfaced and I don't quite know what they mean. Thus having made it through the day with only three hours of sleep I turn off all of the phones, put in earplugs, and head for early sleep.
Needless to say I have 6 great hours of sleep until 3:30 am on Sunday morning, have a short wakeful break, and then have more great sleep until near 7 am. I regain consciousness on Sunday morning before heading off for the loop bicycle ride near 10 am. Another great ride! The final MotoGP and 250cc races of the season are on the telvision from Valencia, Spain. My two favorite 250cc riders equal their best positions of the season, but I was hoping for more. Afterwards I go walking for 40 minutes and then start winding down the weekend. Though the coming workweek is only four days, I know it is going to be hectic.
On Monday I spend all day in meetings. Except for the call that I get from my mobile wireless carrier alerting me that I have sent/received too many text messages this month. We agree that I should have a slightly different plan and they retroactively put me into the plan to see me a few dollars. After work I just drill all of the "push" muscles with a great and heavy workout. And then I walk for 4o minutes. Later in the evening I start firming up my itinerary and get a number of reservation requests done over the Internet.
