On Tuesday I am at work for a 5 am teleconference (8 am on the east coast). It lasts most of the day and I am about the only one who cannot be caught dozing off at certain times. Despite difficulty sleeping the previous night, I feel refreshed and good throughout the day. On the way home from work I stop off at Subway to pick up dinner and I stop to vote. Two of the voting attendants recognize me from community meetings and the one asks (or asserts), "You're the bicycle lane guy, aren't you?" (She's referring to my vehement defense of a bicycle lane remaining on Del Amo.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are really just blurs. I'm up each day just after 4 am for 5 am teleconferences with the east coast that last almost all day. I get in good workouts with the weights each night and even get new "heaviest ever" lifts on Thursday. There are phone conversations with Person C_T and Person T_U and missed calls with Person M_Fl, Person T*, and Person M_C.
On the way to the club I see two accidents that hold traffic up a bit. (And later I will see a third accident on the way home.) I get he wristband from the herd/clone club and head to another club. I strike up a conversation with a couple of guys and Person J_X gets my phone number. Just as I'm about to go back to the herd/clone club Person C_T calls and says that neither he nor Person L_M will make it tonight. Thus I am entirely on my own. At the herd/clone club I enjoy myself a lot. Late in the evening I run into Person J_J and we have a nice conversation that is joined by Person K_U who is just celebrating her 18th birthday by going to a club for the very first time. Person K_U takes a sip of my drink and wonders why I am not drinking alcohol. Though it isn't legal, she's been drinking, but we have a nice little three way conversation before Person J_J and I continue ours. Finally it is time to leave and, as is the case most recently, I don't want to leave so I just hang out in front of the club with a large number of people until about 2:20 am on Saturday morning. I rush on home and read a bit before turning out the lights at 3:03 am.
After watching qualifying for the French Grand Prix I get out for the loop ride again. Like yesterday I feel strong and feel like there are more miles to be ridden today, but I stop to fight another good battle tomorrow. At 11 am on Saturday is the MotoGP race from Assen - the Cathedral of Speed! Valentino Rossi starts 11th and climbs through the field and blows it away. Because this track is hard to pass at, Rossi has to barge his way through a number of times as he says, "Scusarlo, ma ho bisogno di questa posizione. Cos lasciarlo (sicuro) nudge allontanato ed averlo". (Translation: "Excuse me, but I need this position. So let me (safely) nudge you out of the way and have it".) An inpressive win in the dry. Late in the afternoon, after some ResourceScout programming, I get down for an hour nap. Then I do the laundry and trim/water the roses and carnations. The carnations are struggling. There are many phone calls all around, but all of us decide to stay at our respective homes and not go out on Saturday night.
Monday and Tuesday are good days even if they are very hot. I get out for bicycle rides in the morning, run/work errands during the day, relax during the day, and get in good sessions with the weights and walking late in the afternoon. On Tuesday Person M_Fl drops by and we hang out for a while as he's in between classes at school and work at the hospital. Later a new mattress arrives and I'm anxious to sleep on it and see how it feels.
On Thursday and Friday I continue the momentum of healthy eating and good workouts as I return to work. The days at work are a bit slow as people have extended their wn 4th of July holidays. But I try to stay productive.
On Saturday I get off to a slow start with qualifying for the British Grand Prix. And then I get out for a midday bicycle ride in the warm sun (but cool ocean breeze down near the aquarium). After the ride I replace the rear inner tube, sweep the hardwood floors, watch more of the Korean television show that I've recorded, and working on more mapping programs. Here's one that geolocates all of my friends.
Sunday is a lazy day. Foregoing a bicycle ride, I clean, trim, and water the roses first thing in the morning. This being, perhaps, the first day all year that I did not get on a bicycle if I was not at work (in addition to the sick day a few weeks ago). But I get in a session with the weights and a long walk. And I'm in bed early.
