On Monday it takes me a while to get started. I'm just in a fog. It takes me time to get started at work being productive on Monday also. After work I lift weights and have a reasonable session.
On Tuesday I have a productive day at work. When I get home I work the abdominals and lower back, mow the front and back yards, and walk over to the grocery store for supplies. I then work on two algorithms for work and, before I know it, it is 8:30 pm and both algorithms are almost finished. I go into my bedroom and turn the alarm clock off for Wednesday morning and relax to the two hour season final of Boston Legal.
Thursday is National Bike to Work day, so I hop on the mountain bicycle and ride to work. Though it is early in the morning, there appears to be an additional cyclist or two out today. Maybe everyone who is riding to work today will be on the road a bit later. It's a productive day at Northrop Grumman as I re-work some simulations for more complete results. And then I hop on the bicycle to ride on home. There's a traffic backup on Del Amo so the cars are having a difficult time making progress. I've given a dirty look to a driver who had his stereo on very very loud and he has sped away from me. But I keep catching up to him and passing him and I can just tell that he's getting irritated that a bicycle is staying with him or ahead of him. After about 4 miles of this I lose track of him and it's time for me to turn off Del Amo anyway. I grab a quick shower, toss some food down my throat, and grab the motorcycle for a ResourceScout meeting. Because Friday is a National Buy No Gasoline day, I buy gasoline tonight on the way to the meeting. It's a long meeting and I'm not home until well after 10 pm.
Friday is a productive day at Northrop Grumman. I want to leave early to get a start on the weekend, but I have to wait for data from Colorado and to assess the data. Thus I don't leave until about 4:30. I get in a reasonable session with the weights - that's the best that can be said. And lose myself in stupid television shows the rest of the evening.
On Saturday I take the road bicycle out for a reconasaince ride up the Los Angeles river for a bit. I just want to check out the course for Sunday's long ride and to keep the legs moving. After a shower I do the laundry and do some grocery shopping. Today is supposed to be a slow, restfull day in preparation of Sunday's ride. But I manage to trim the roses, lay out in the sun, and paint some trim in the house along the length of the day.
After the alarm goes off on SUnday morning at 5:09 am I'm laying in bed and it starts to rain. I think about not doing the Los Angeles river ride because of the rain, but that would be bad. So I put on my clothes and head up to Griffith park on the bicycle. Just after arriving in Griffith Park, signing in, and paying my regsitration fees, I run into a couple co-workers. They're doing the shorter ride, but we have a brief conversation before I have to line up for the ride. It's an uneventfull ride though I do struggle the entire way. I knew this was going to happen because I haven't put in enough miles and I've been lazy and eating too much during the last couple months of sadness and depression. After a shower I reload the body with lots of pasta as I watch the MotoGP races from France. The 250cc race is a thriller with my favorite younger rider, Yuki Takahashi, taking his first win (in his first full season) by pushing and shoving and beating his teammate by the smallest of margins. And the Yamaha M1 again lets Valentino Rossi down, though this time after he has given a lesson to all of the riders about how fast he can be when the M1 is right. Oh well.
The rest of the day is spent relaxing as Person C_T and Person T_U both call and we talk about going out partying, but we don't.
At the end of the weekend the mileage tally is 0 miles on the motorcycle, 5 miles on the car, and 85 miles on the bicycles.
