Continued Recovery

Wednesday is a difficult day at work as we start testing some hardware. The test does not go well as there is plenty of "unexplained behavior" and we have to keep making debugging and diagnostic runs. Just after 6pm we call it quits as we agree to sleep on the results and see what we can come up with on Thursday morning. This is one time that I am glad that I did not bring some of our new hires over to witness the testing - it did not go well.

On Wednesday night (really Thursday morning at 1:30 am) I wake up with a bad cramp in my left calf. I sit up in bed massaging the calf and anti-calf (What's the name of the muscle in the front of the lower leg along the shins?) as the anti-calf strings itself taught to a G sharp tension. As I'm sitting up I look out the bedroom window and see the rose bushes in the darkness. As I continue to massage the calf and anti-calf I think about tending the roses, playing in the dirt, selling the flowers, and walking amongst the plants. This relaxing imagery seems to help more than the massage as the anti-calf relaxes down from G sharp to C flat to A minor and finally back to normal.

But now I cannot sleep, so after trying for a while I get up and watch television for 10 minutes. With nothing on the telelvision I go surf the Internet for a while. Before I know it it is approaching 4:30 am.

Thursday is a tough day at work because of all of the testing difficulties. But we have a meeting or two and each try to make progress as best as we can. After work I get home and lift weights and mow the lawn. Then I work on reducing and looking at more test data. This system is strongly nonlinear and there is a lot of information to digest. But my eyes start getting tired before 9 pm from lack of sleep and I'm in bed before 9:30 pm.

Friday is a productive day at work and afterwards. We make progress debugging the lousy test and acquire more data. I leave near 3 pm after having sent some data home to look at over the weekend. I work on abdominals for a while, get out for a 45 minute walk, work on abdominals a bit more, and then take a shower. Dinner and laundry complete the day. Except that Person C_T calls and has work on Friday and Saturday in Orange County and wants to stay over. So he comes by near 9:30 pm and we talk for a while before heading for sleep. Person C_T can't sleep, so he gets up and surfs the Internet and eventually comes back to bed for sleep.

Saturday is even more productive. I get out for the aquarium ride and take a shower in order to see Person C_T off to work. Qualifying for the inaugural Grand Prix of Turkey is available via tape, so I watch that. It is very eventfull as the drivers learn the new track and make mistakes during their qualifying runs in the dusty environment. The final order should make for an interesting race. I get out and trim and water the roses before picking up the paintbrush for more trimwork. As suggested by the doctor to improve my color I lay in the sun for a while. After a couple more errands it is near 2:30 and I am getting tired. So I get down for a nap until 4pm. Near 5 pm I lift weights, get out for a 30 minute walk, and stop in at the grocery store.

Joe and Person J_VKPI and Person C_T call and soon Joe is at my house and we're heading to a club to meet up with Person J_VKPI. Person C_T again staying away because he's tired. The evening starts slow, but by midnight the music is getting good and the crowd is getting thick. There are a few acquaintances present and there are few people preparing offers. Brandon is again there - visiting from New York. But he seems to be ignoring both Joe and me so we don't worry about it at all. But I just lose myself in the music and lights and have a lot of fun. By 2 am Joe and I decide to leave and we walk out with Person J_VKPI (who has parked in a different parking lot). There's again construction on the 710 south and there's an accident to go along with it, but I'm laying down for sleep at exactly 3:00 am.

I'm up a bit late on Sunday morning but I get out for the aquarium ride and stop in at a liquor store on the way home to buy the Sunday Los Angeles times. After a shower I watch the inaugural Grnd Prix of Turkey and enjoy the results and the changes in position that occur right up until the last lap. Later I read the newspaper and do some painting - it looks like I'll be skipping the inline skating again on this Sunday.

Later on Sunday I get out for a moderate length walk and then relax. I do get a few little work macros written, but it's mainly a relax evening because I'm tired from the previous night. I'm in bed reading the newspaper by 9 pm on Sunday night with all of the telephones on silent mode.
