Each day is a bit better than the previous one, though only incrementally so. But I still eat healthy food, try to drink extra fluids, and rest as much as possible.
Wednesday is a good day. My morning body temperature is down (to 0.6 degrees above normal) and I feel pretty good. After work I walk to the grocery store and buy a cavalcade of vegetables to have as a salad. Ruby comes by just as I'm starting into the salad and she sees how yellow I am and we talk about health and ResourceScout. She stays for about an hour.
Thursday and Friday are slight relapses in terms of morning body temperature. And I struggle through Thursday at work. The neighbor lady returns from her two week vacation and I give her her mail and tell her how sick I am. She also sees how yellow I am and doesn't stay long at all. But Friday I start feeling pretty good again. I leave work early on Friday (having put in an extra hour on Thursday) in order to give the doctor some more blood. Of course the bloodwork paperwork is missing, so it takes some time to regenerate the paperwork so that I can get poked in the arm again.
On Friday Person C_T comes to visit on his way home from
an interview down in Orange County. We hang out for a while, walk to the
grocery store, and hang out a bit more. We share stories of how each of us
have ben taken advantage of financially and the lessons that we learned from those
experiences. When Person C_T leaves I start to think about the last few
years. So:
1) In late 2002 I fell while inline skating and fractured my wrist
2) In late 2003 I ruptured L4/L5 discs in my lower back
3) At Christmas 2004 I had a nasty two week flu
4) In July 2005 I'm fighting off HepatitisB.
So I can't quite figure out what's been going on for the last few years, but
it isn't good.
On Saturday morning I get out for the aquarium ride and, because I'm feeling sorta good, I'm going a bit faster than the last few times. By the time that I get home I've worn myself out and I have to lay down on the carpet (before a shower) because my heart is just pounding away in my chest. Maybe I overdid it a bit, but I'm sweating out toxins too. After doing the laundry and some grocery shopping, I watch qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix. By noon the house is getting wamr so I flip on the air conditioning and get down for a three hour nap. Later in the day I handle calls from Person T_U and Person Joe and just relax.
On Sunday I get out for a good morning bicycle ride. I pace myself a bit better today and finish with a reasonable time (for a sick guy) without feeling like I'm going to die. Later I read the newspaper, watch the Hungarian Grand Prix, and watch the German MotoGP race. Even though it doesn't look like Valentino Rossi is going to win, his rival makes a mistake on the last lap - allowing Rossi to squeeze through and win (after struggling all weekend on the Yamaha M1). I read the various websites and download an mp3 of a song that Person J_VKPI really likes. I play the song quite regularly and though it isn't the club version that I would probably like more, it does pick my spirits up and make me able to face the rest of the day and the oncoming Monday morning.
Sunday night is a rough night. First I wake up at 1:30 am and cannot fall back asleep. The fan is blowing nice cool air into the bedroom and sleeping conditions are perfect, but I toss and turn and cannot fall asleep. After 2 am I hear the latch on the gate snap but think it's just some wind or something. But then I hear it again a few minutes later. So I grab a flashlight and go investigate, but don't find anything amiss. Until I see the cat in the backyard that sometimes comes around. The cat tends to walk along the fence and probably moved the gate around. I flash the flashlight at the cat and make some noises towards it through a window, but the cat just stares back at me. So I go back to tossing and turning and not sleeping. Later I'm still lying awake when the fan quits running. And I look over and see that there is no power to the alarm clock either. And I just lay there thinking, "What else is going to go wrong?" But the power cycles back on in less than a minute and the fan starts back. Who cares about the alarm clock at this point?
