Pre-Valentines Week

On Tuesday night we have a meeting related to ResourceScout. As we await the $5000 initial installment for work related to Colorado, we start filling out the paperwork to start a non-profit corporation related to adoptions. We've decided to start a non-profit corporation (in addition to the for-profit ResourceScout) in order to chase after government and private agency grants that are only open to IRS-approved non-profit organizations.

On Wednesday, after a long and productive afternoon meeting with Boeing in El Segundo, I drive up to downtown Los Angeles to meet Person C_T. (At the meeting at Boeing I run into a guy I used to work with at Hughes - which is now Boeing. We hadn't seen each other in about 25 years and we were teasing ech other and having fun during the meeting.) Person C_T and I have dinner to celebrate our 7 month anniversary a day early as well as to see the opera "Romeo and Juliet". Towards the end of the opera, as I'm getting tired, I'm thinking to myself, "Hurry up, Juliet. Just kill yourself so that I can go home and go to sleep". Eventually she does it and I am dozing off to sleep just before midnight.

On Friday I leave work early - blowing off a meeting that I already said that I would attend. I'm bored and I need to go home. I do the laundry and get in a good session with the weights before having dinner. Later in the evening I spend a lot of time scanning slides from the Central America trip in 1993 and the France trip in 1985. I enjoy the hard rain in the background as well as the great trance music as I scan away.

After a couple hours of deep sleep on Friday night I wake up and have a hard time falling back to sleep. I toss and turn for a while and eventually fall back asleep. Is there something bothering me?

I get up on Saturday morning and go for a long walk. I make a stop at the ATM and get a bit wet as the rain comes down. When I get home I continue scanning slides from France in 1985 before taking a shower and heading over to the robotics team place of work. We work continuosly until I leave near 6pm. We make more good progress, but there are still things that we don't understand. Well, that will be for this week to figure out.

Initially there was to be a huge crowd (or entourage) to go clubbing this weekend: Person C_T, Person L_M, Person J_VKPI, a friend of Person J_VKPI, and possibly Joe, Person T_U, and a coworker from Northrop Grumman. Eventually people start dropping out for whatever reason and the final crowd is Person J_VKPI and me. There is a large crowd at the club and the music is good (new, recent, and just a few year-old songs). Present are Roy's roommate Ralph and friend of a friend (neither of whom I had seen for a long time), Person E_F, Person M_P, and Person T_F. Today is an interesting night because a lot of people put hands or arms on me as well as a few people wanting to get to know me better. After I explain to each and everyone that I am seeing someone, most of them get the message and leave me alone. Near 1 am, when Person J_VKPI is sitting at a table and I am standing next to him, I look up and see in a wall-mounted mirror some guy who is staring at me. The guy has big arms, big shoulders, and a barrel chest. I notice that he needs to lose a few pounds, but he looks really good. And then I look up at his face and almost faint. It takes me a momentary pause to realize that I'm looking at myself. And now it makes sense - why everyone wants to touch me and/or get to know me tonight. Well, I make a note to myself that I should concentrate more on losing a few pounds then on gaining more upper body size. Person J_VKPI and I leave after 2 am and I am putting my head down on my own pillow for sleep just before 3:30 am on SUnday morning.

On Sunday I'm up a bit after 8 am to go cycling. Because of the recent rain most of the gates are closed. I find an open gate on the way down to the aquarium, cycle around the aquarium, and head for home. At my usual exit both gates are closed. So I start lifting my bicycle over a gate and a man out walking his dog helps me get the bike over the gate. I then climb over the fence and start talking with him about his dog. It turns out he recently put to sleep a 16 year old german shepherd and we share experiences about our dogs and running/walking with them. And then I'm headed for home. I mow the lawn before doing some shopping and killing time for Person C_T to visit.

Person C_T and I have hang out, go walk around 2nd Street in Long Beach, eat Mediteranean food for dinner, and then go home to relax and watch "Desperate Housewives" and "Boston Legal". I make note of a few legal tactics that I can use during my next visit to court for either jury duty or a legal proceeding.
