I start the new year at Northrop Grumman with a fairly productive day. I manage to keep everyone out of my office and away from me by announcing, "get away from me - I'm sick". And this works as everyone stays away. I just plug away at reports that have to be written and have made good progress by the end of the day. When I get home I lift weights (with light weights again that I still struggle to lift) and get out walking for 40 minutes (assisted with techno and trance music from the mp3 player).
Each day of the week I feel a bit better. I try to be productive at work, try to stay warm at night, and try to eat good foods. Each night after work I lift weights and then go walking for 40 minutes. Each night of lifting is a bit easier as I regain strength, but I try to make it a bit more difficult each night by increasing the weights. The walks are brisk walks with energetic trance music blasting away from the mp3 player. On these walks I'm in my own little world and hope that there is no "situation" where I have to hear somebody coming up behind me or etc.
It makes me feel almost human again to ride the motorcycle on Wednesday and Thursday - managing to squeeze in two motorcycle commute days between the big coastal storms.
Person C_T and I try to talk on the telephone each day before I've gone to bed, though we miss one night when I've dropped off to sleep well before 9pm. I can't wait for Saturday to be over when the supply of antibiotics runs out and I should be feeling pretty good again.
On Saturday I'm restless and have a short attention span throughout the day. I get out for a 5 mile run in the morning without getting too wet. After doing the laundry, I work at Northrop Grumman for a couple of hours on documentation and other loose end. Then I head to a Japanese market in Torrance to just hang out and maybe take some pictures. Then I lift weights again (even though I was going to take today off) and go for another long walk. Person C_T and Person L_M come over at 7 pm and we spend an hour ordering/picking up pizza for them and renting a DVD to watch. The movie goes on at 9 pm and I'm fast asleep by 9:11 pm only to wake up occassionally throughout the movie in order to kinda catch the storyline. It's a long movie and I head off to sleep after 11 pm. Person C_T and Person L_M let themselves out shortly thereafter.
On Sunday I'm up late to make up for the late time getting to bed on Saturday night (because of the long movie). I get out for a long walk and stop at the grocery store on the way home from the walk. As I approach the house with three bags of groceries, I look to the sky and say, "Okay, you can start pouring now". And about 30 seconds later as I'm two houses away from my house the rain starts pouring down. I watch some football and read the newspaper and work on an Excel macro for work, but then I get out for another long walk near 1 pm. It is just barely misting when I start out to return the DVD. By the time that I get to the video store it is raining pretty hard and I still have a 25 minute walk home. When I get home I take a nice warm shower and relax with football games and the newspaper for the rest of the day.
